Reviews of Mother's Day
Einar Guldvog Staalesen, Film Critic, NRK P2
"Mothe's Day" is a perfect short film. In one continuous scene we experience a mother and son sitting on a bench in an autumnal park, behind isolating brick walls, exchanging a few words. In the course of four minutes we know everything we need to know about these two people.

Angela Amoroso dramatizes rationally and edits tightly, but gives time and space for reflection. It is a feat to tell a story so concisely and convey so much so poetically. Angela Amoroso directs in close collaboration with cinematographer Hallvard Bræin and editor Amund Lie.

Angela Amoroso has through her screenwriting demonstrated an ability tohandle all genres, from absurd comedy to contemporary poetic realism. At first her scripts might seem traditional in style and form, but her stories often linger in your mind. She handles complex contemporary issues from feminism to loneliness. All her films have strong emotional chords.

In her transition from screenwriting to directing, Ms. Amoroso maintains her distinct voice. In Mother's Day, a mother-son story, she has visually captured the son´s desperate need for contact and love in this beautiful
autumn sonata.
